All of the main candidates for the London Mayoral election have been invited to a tech hustings to discuss their policy commitments to ensure the future success of the city’s tech companies and London’s digital capabilities. The London Tech Manifesto, a series of policy recommendations to the next Mayor of London, will be published at the end of January, and the candidates will be asked to discuss, debate and share their views on the challenges and opportunities facing London’s tech sector. The following candidates have been invited to join the tech hustings: Sadiq Khan, Labour Party Shaun Bailey, Conservative Party Siân Berry, Green Party Rory Stewart, Independent Siobhan Benita, Liberal Democrat Party Dr Sue Black, Women’s Equality Party The hustings will be followed by a series of panel discussions – from tech leaders, investors and media experts – to respond to the debate. The original DebateTech in 2016 saw all Mayoral candidates commit to delivering the policy recommendations laid out in the London Tech Manifesto – which included installing London’s first Chief Digital Officer. 800 tech leaders came to the event to witness the first ever tech hustings in a London Mayoral election campaign.
