After an initial fundraising of €4M in 2023, Hyperline has secured an additional €10M to revolutionise billing processes.

Fifteen years ago, businesses simply sold their products outright. Then, to meet customer demands, they shifted to subscription-based solutions. Now, companies – and potentially individuals in the future – prefer to pay only for what they use, rather than a subscription they only occasionally benefit from. This paradigm shift requires a complete rethinking of billing processes to make them more flexible.

"Billing spans from sales to banking, passing through quotes, contracts, invoices, and payments. Each step needs greater flexibility without requiring an integrator to reconfigure everything," explains Lucas Bédout, co-founder of Hyperline, who launched the company with his former Spendesk colleague, Clément Garbay. The startup's SaaS solution incorporates all these components, including post-payment accounting, enabling businesses to modify their pricing strategies without overhauling their tools.

Hyperline’s strengths align with modern trends

Beyond its user-friendly flexibility, Hyperline leverages another key advantage to win over professionals. "There is a trend toward automation powered by AI, which aligns perfectly with our product. We designed it to be accessible with an easy-to-use interface, reducing the number of tasks for teams," says Lucas Bédout. For example, he estimates that while businesses generating €10M in revenue previously needed two or three days each month to perform these operations, Hyperline can reduce this to just a few hours.

This automation includes features like improved automatic tracking of payment errors. "The system identifies problematic invoices and suggests appropriate actions. It can also detect relevant price increases. I believe we’re moving toward approving suggested actions rather than manually executing them," he adds.

Building the team

The €10M raised by Hyperline, with support from existing investor Index Ventures and Adelie Capital, will be used to double its current team of 12 employees by the end of 2025. "While 50 to 60% of our business is in France, we know we can expand faster in the UK or Germany," says Bédout. The startup plans to bolster its sales team to drive European growth. "We don’t aim to have a tech team of 200 people. Instead, we prioritise a small but experienced tech team," he adds.

Hyperline is targeting a client base of 500 by 2025, up from its current 150. "We also aim to advise and support our clients during integration because billing is a sensitive subject," concludes Bédout.
